Psychopomp
A downloadable game
Summary
In Psychopomp you play as a cab driver ferrying world wearied passengers. Talk to them, learn about their lives, and collect trinkets they may leave behind. Or don't, keep your head down and do your job. Why would you care about random strangers?
What It's All About
This game is intended to be an exploration of life and experiences outside of your own sphere of existence. As the player you learn about these mysterious passengers and begin to see their impact on your life as you learn to really listen.
Who's Behind The Game
Reilly is a game art and design student with a special interest in the intersection of neuro divergence and interactive experiences for the betterment of mental health.
Why A Cab Simulation
The goal with Psychopomp was always to have a conversation about the importance of human connection. In a world where we all have access to all information all the time it is so easy to become apathetic and isolated. As the main character of Psychopomp you start in a dull world, through connecting to people you encounter you collect color and stories, no matter how fleeting an interaction, there is a lasting impact of others on your life. Taking the risk to listen to people you have never met is integral to forming community and interconnection.

the mood here is thick with a certain kind of hopeful melancholy that I really dig. the texturing is stellar, and the minimal soundscape sets the tone for a reflective experience.
I immediately exited the cab, and realized I missed something when I found the empty vase — that was a nice and subtle hint, encouraging me to try again to see what I missed. the conversation with the old man was very sweet, I wish him all the best! lovely concept overall.
The branching dialogue and item collecting mechanic you made for this game was really interesting and unique! The overall look and style fit with the mood of the game really well too. I liked how many choices I could make while interacting with the passengers in the car and how it would affect the story and outcomes of their rides. Great work!
